The mission of the Brigham City Citizen Corp Council is to harness the power of every individual through education, training, personal responsibility and volunteer service to make the community safer, stronger, and better prepared to respond to the threats of crime, public health issues and disasters of all kinds.
The Citizen Corp Council (CCC) is a subsidiary of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and is made up of community volunteers acting under the supervision of the community Emergency Management Director. The CCC is part of a national network of state, local and tribal Citizen Corp Councils.
There is a specific training structure within the Citizen Corp Council.
The Executive Committee of the CCC meets monthly to discuss the needs of citizens, works through church organizations to coordinate training, sponsors community preparedness events and coordinates and oversees the initiatives of the Volunteers in Police Service (VIPS/COPS), Citizen Emergency Response Team (CERT), Medical Reserve Corp (MRC) and Amateur Radio (ARES).
