Investing in the City's infrastructure system by funding Capital Improvement Projects will maintain these services. Meeting the State and Federal Compliance regulations and continuing to provide quality service requires skillful management and a cooperative atmosphere of teamwork between the divisions.

In 1964, a local engineer by the name of O. Neil Smith was appointed to serve as the community's first full time Public Works Director. As such, he oversaw a multitude of activities including those of the streets, electrical, water, inspection, waste disposal and collection. and engineering divisions.
